Routes Between the Town, Park and Railway Station

Sentiero 844 C enters the town area of Locate Varesino and crosses the Sentiero LungoParco there. The Sentiero LungoParco is almost 40 kilometres long and turns onto Via Marconi shortly before the cemetery in Locate Varesino. The Anello di Carbonate-Locate is connected via Locate Varesino-Carbonate railway station to the Trenord Milano–Varese–Laveno Mombello line.

Habitats in the Park

The Sentiero Natura passes through the park’s various habitats: forest, meadows, cultivated land and wetlands. The Sentiero Natura follows Sentiero 844 C through the forests of Locate Varesino and then leads back to Via dei Ronchi di Tradate.

Churches and Evolving Local History

The Chiesa dei Santi Quirico e Giulitta has been documented since the 14th century and was consecrated as a parish church in 1525. Its present form resulted from the enlargement of an earlier church building; the fully preserved façade of the older church can be seen on the west side. The Chiesetta di Sant’Agostino was built in the 17th century as a private chapel for the Castiglioni family. Its gabled façade, artistically designed upper window and small bell tower with a square floor plan give the building distinctive architectural features. The Chiesa di San Luigi is located in the buildings belonging to the oratory, in the immediate vicinity of the parish church.

Villa, Park and Memorial Site

Villa Catenacci De Wich is protected as a listed monument by the state because of its historical and artistic significance. Its park contains numerous botanical species, including specimens dating from the 19th century. The De Wich family used the villa during their holiday stays. The cemetery also contains the Monumento ai Caduti di Locate Varesino. It is approximately 3.5 metres high and consists of two square concrete columns, a block of marble and an iron cross.

Music and Public Reading Service

Through its Scuola Allievi, the Corpo Musicale di Locate Varesino offers children and young people musical training. This includes courses in early musical education and instrumental study. The Biblioteca di Locate Varesino offers a free public reading service.
