Between Brick Houses, Church and Theater

Buscoldo is characterized by cobblestone lanes and old red-brick houses. It is also home to cultural sites that give the town a variety of historical and artistic accents: the Chiesa di S. Marco, the Teatro Comunale Giuseppe Verdi and the Santuario della Beata Vergine del Buon Consiglio. The Chiesa di S. Marco was opened for worship on the third Sunday in October 1792, following the renovation and expansion of an earlier church building. As a late Baroque church, it is dated to the period from 1760 to 1792. Inside, it has an organ by Montesanti from 1834.

The Santuario della Beata Vergine del Buon Consiglio in the immediate vicinity of Buscoldo is also closely connected with the history of the town. It was built in 1757 by the community of Buscoldo on the remains of an ancient Gonzaga tower. The sanctuary chapel was completed in 1804 and connected to the fountain by a vaulted passage above the road. The Santuario della Beata Vergine Madre del Buon Consiglio is one of Italy’s Marian sanctuaries.

Theater and Culture in the Town

The Teatro Comunale di Curtatone, which bears the name Giuseppe Verdi, is located in Buscoldo. The Teatro Comunale Giuseppe Verdi offers drama, cabaret, theater for families and young people, opera, classical music, operetta and dialect theater.
