Arcore combines villa architecture, parkland and distinctive sacred buildings to create a varied townscape. Villa Borromeo d'Adda represents the historical and landscape character of the town, while the Chiesa di Sant'Eustorgio in the centre adds an urban accent.

Historic Villas and Architectural Heritage

Villa Borromeo d'Adda was built in the second half of the 18th century, when Abbot Ferdinando D'Adda commissioned a residence on the hill known as “Montagnola”. The Complesso Borromeo d'Adda is considered a rare surviving example of a patrician villa that preserves the characteristic features of its period. The complex therefore represents a clearly recognisable historical layer in Arcore.

The complex includes the Cappella Vela, which was inaugurated in 1853. When planning your visit, it is important to note that the chapel is currently inaccessible to visitors because of problems with accessibility. Villa San Martino preserves some original architectural structures of the former Benedictine monastery of San Martino. Villa La Cazzola dates from the 16th century; it is associated with the description “oldest villa in Arcore”.

The Chiesa di Sant'Eustorgio is a monumental building in the centre of Arcore. Its façade features an unusual decorative balcony from the 18th century. This specific façade detail adds to the church's historical dimension and makes it an independent architectural landmark in the town centre.

Parkland and Natural Areas

There are two ponds north of Villa Borromeo d'Adda. The park includes an English landscape garden with vistas, often monumental or exotic individual trees or groups of trees, as well as open areas with footpaths.

Within the Arcore area, the Parco Regionale della Valle del Lambro extends from the Lambro's course in the La Cà district eastwards to the municipal park of Villa Borromeo d'Adda.
