Biassono Between Cultural History and Motorsport

Biassono can be explored through two distinctive themes: cultural history and motorsport. In the historic centre stands Villa Verri, whose original central section was presumably built as a country residence for the Verri family at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries. This picture is complemented by the Museo Civico “Carlo Verri”, dedicated to the history and culture of Biassono and Brianza.

Culture and Historical Traces

The Museo Civico “Carlo Verri” was founded in 1977. The ground floor houses the ethnographic section and themed exhibitions. The Chiesa Parrocchiale di San Martino Vescovo preserves several 17th-century furnishings as well as wooden statues. The veneration of Saint Martin of Tours can be traced back to the 13th century in connection with this church.

The remains of the Roman villa near Cascina Sant’Andrea include part of a wall, a cistern, a water conduit and fragments of a floor. The Santuario della Madonna della Brughiera was built in 1834 on the site of a former cemetery in memory of the victims of a cholera epidemic. In San Giorgio al Lambro, remnants of mill channels and watermills are also still visible.

Ca' dei Bossi also provides insight into the region’s architectural and event culture. The building was reopened to the public in 2016 and takes part in the annual “Ville aperte” event in Brianza. Its distinctive feature is a large round-arched portal with regular rusticated masonry, providing access from outside.

Motorsport Around Monza

The Autodromo di Monza is open to visitors year-round, except during the Christmas holidays. The first corner after the start-finish straight of the Autodromo Nazionale Monza was formerly known as “Curva Grande” and is now called “Curva Biassono”. This means that you encounter the town’s name directly in the designation of a section of the race track.

The Muretto dei Campioni consists of ceramic objects bearing the autographs of prominent figures in motorsport, as well as the winners of the Formula 1 Gran Premio d'Italia and the motorcycle racing Gran Premio delle Nazioni. The layout of the Autodromo Nazionale Monza can be viewed on a ride on the small train, which travels through chicanes, corners and straights. In addition, the Monza Circuit Experience offers various guided tours of the Autodromo Nazionale Monza in cars and minibuses.

Explore Biassono by Bike

For an active perspective, the route “106. Scoprire i parchi della Brianza in bicicletta” begins at Biassono railway station. On the route from Monza to Carate in Parco Valle Lambro, there is a steel bridge over the Lambro between Lesmo and Biassono. The two route references highlight different sides of the surrounding area: one starts with a bike ride through the parks of Brianza, while the other leads through a landscape featuring a river crossing.

Events and Trip Planning

The Festa del Ringraziamento includes a procession through numerous streets of Biassono. Together with the museum, churches, historical traces, motorsport and cycling routes, it provides a varied foundation for your planning.
