Zibido San Giacomo is home to historic architecture, the Naviglio Pavese, the Laghi Carcana and several cycling routes. Other local features include farmsteads and establishments offering regional products.

Historic Buildings and Cultural Sites

One of the area's notable landmarks is the historic Cascina Ca’ Grande, with its characteristic enclosed farmyard complex. The so-called Casa Pusterla is located in the cascina and is richly decorated with frescoes. The Castelletto complex on Via Matteotti consists of several brick buildings, including a fortified house with a tower. Palazzo Salterio was built in the 19th century according to a unified design on the remains of 18th-century buildings.

The Chiesa dei Santi Pietro e Paolo in San Pietro Cusico is possibly the oldest church in Zibido San Giacomo. The Punto Parco Musa is a museum and laboratory with documentation available as well as a small specialist library.

Landscape along the Naviglio Pavese and the Laghi Carcana

Palazzo Salterio is located on the Naviglio Pavese, on the right bank, in a valuable rural setting designated as a nature park area in the park's P.T.C. The Laghi Carcana are a developed natural area with paths and picnic areas. They originated from a series of former lakes created by mining activity that has since ended.

The “Da Mirasole a Morimondo” route follows the Naviglio Pavese. It runs along the canal into the extensive municipality of Zibido San Giacomo, which lies at the heart of an area of particular natural interest characterized by cascine.

Cycling Routes with Different Areas of Focus

The “ZIBIDO • le CASCINE” route is approximately 30 kilometers long, with the outward and return journeys considered together. It is classified as easy and designed to take around three hours. It runs from the church square in Zibido San Giacomo towards Mairano and the Cascina Femegro. The “ZIBIDO · S. PIETRO CUSICO” route leads to San Pietro Cusico via a cycle path.

The approximately 30 kilometers already include the outward and return journeys; the entire loop is designed to take around three hours. Anyone planning it should therefore allow for the complete route back to the starting point. Its easy rating provides additional guidance for planning a day trip by bicycle in the municipality.

At Cascina Femegro, tastings of its own farm products are offered. At Cascina Pioltino, rice of the Carnaroli and Arborio varieties, honey and veal from its own production are sold directly.

Getting to Palazzo Salterio

Palazzo Salterio can be reached via the S.S. 35 dei Giovi, which runs along the towpath of the Naviglio Pavese, as well as via the A7 Milano–Genova motorway, taking the Binasco exit.
