The earliest recorded mention of the settlement of Settimo dates back to 836. The town's name derives from its location at the seventh milestone from Pavia on the road to Milan. In the 14th century, a fortified country residence in the form of a castle was built in Settimo. Bianca Maria Visconti was born at Settimo Castle in 1425.
