Airfield and aviation in Caiolo

The Sentiero Valtellina is less sport-oriented; it passes through Caiolo and is suitable for leisurely walks and bike rides. The church of San Vittore stands outside Caiolo on a rocky promontory above a gorge; below it flows the Livrio stream. It can be reached on foot via a mule track after crossing a small bridge over the stream. Its access and location make a visit an experience of the route and landscape, not merely an inspection of the church building.

On the way from Caiolo to the church of Sant’Antero, a little beyond Contrada Pedrini, lies a rural settlement centre. It is accessed via a mule track. This section adds a rural settlement form to Caiolo’s historical character and is suitable for visitors who wish to appreciate not only individual buildings but also paths and organically developed local structures.
