Corna: Panoramas, Vineyard Terraces and Regional Culture

The easy La Piana–Corna Marinella walking trail is one of the simple hiking routes in the municipality of Teglio. The route offers views of Monte Cancano; to the southeast, the Adamello Group can be seen between the peaks of the Orobie range. This provides a clearly defined hiking idea for planning your stay in Corna, combined with striking mountain panoramas.

Vineyard Terraces and Expansive Views

On the Rhaetian side of the Valtellina valley, the vineyard terraces extend for approximately 40 kilometers, while the dry-stone walls run for more than 2,500 kilometers. From La Corna, there are panoramic views of the Adda River and the Orobie side of the valley opposite. On the La Piana–Corna Marinella route, you reach the barrier at the beginning of the Pista Forestale della Corna Marinella forest track. For orientation along the route, the barrier marks the start of the forest track. From the upper terrace of the Torre “de li Beli Miri”, the view extends for approximately 60 kilometers. Interior visits to the Torre “de li Beli Miri” are limited to special events. Planning should therefore distinguish between the trail experience, the viewpoint, and the possibility of visiting the interior.

Renaissance, Romanesque Architecture and Mill History

In the municipality of Teglio, Palazzo Besta is a Renaissance palace. The Antiquarium Tellinum, a collection of engraved stelae from the Copper Age, is located on the ground floor. The Church of San Pietro in the municipality of Teglio was built in the 11th century and features Romanesque architecture influenced by the Como-Ticino style.

The Mulino Menaglio is considered the best-preserved example of the typical water mills that were once widespread throughout the area. The mill houses a small museum about agricultural work and eating habits associated with grain cultivation.

Regional Cuisine and Sport Climbing

Teglio is considered the home of pizzoccheri; the dish is regarded as characteristic of the traditional local cuisine. Typical dishes at the Corna restaurant include sciatt and pizzoccheri. Pizzoccheri thus represent both Teglio’s traditional cuisine and the restaurant context in Corna.
