The fourth stage of the Via Francisca del Lucomagno passes through Solbiate Olona. The Via Francisca del Lucomagno is a route that can be travelled on foot or by bicycle. La Scaletta connects Solbiate Olona with the valley and provides access to the landscape. It consists of 165 steps divided into two sections. Through its connection with the Cotonificio and cyclocross, La Scaletta became a symbol of Solbiate Olona.

Museo Socio-Storico and Churches

The Museo Socio-Storico presents 500 exhibits showing the local society of Solbiate Olona in its various historical phases. The vaults of the transept are painted with scenes from the childhood of Christ and the life of the Madonna. The former church of Sant'Antonino Martire is now called Chiesa del Sacro Cuore. Its Baroque façade has a central portal topped with a shell pediment.

The Church of Saints Gervaso and Protaso contains an 18th-century polychrome marble altar with a crucifix. The Chiesa di San Gregorio o del Lazzaretto was built from 1670 onwards in memory of the victims of the plague. Together, these religious buildings provide various historical and architectural perspectives on Solbiate Olona.

The Ecomuseo della Valle Olona project in Solbiate Olona is dedicated to recovering, communicating and enhancing the history, traditions and local culture of an area comprising 14 municipalities in the Seprio and Medio Olona area along the Olona River. It addresses the area's environment, landscape, architecture, history, language, religion, folklore, traditions and gastronomy in order to preserve and pass on these aspects.

How to Reach the Ecomuseo

The Ecomuseo della Valle Olona can be reached by car via the A8 dei Laghi and the Castellanza, Busto Arsizio, Solbiate Arno or Morazzone exits. By train, it can be reached via the Trenitalia stations in Busto Arsizio and Varese, as well as the LeNord stations in Castellanza, Busto Arsizio, Tradate and Vedano Olona.

Parco della Memoria was created to commemorate people who lost their lives in the World Wars and the Resistance. It stands for respect and gratitude for their sacrifices for freedom and democracy.
