Cycle Paths and Connections around Fenile

The completed Fano–Fenile cycle path is approximately 3 kilometres long and runs along Provincial Road 45 “Carignano”. The Anello E circular route is connected to Fenile, Centinarola and Rosciano. Asse 3 is connected by a route from Fenile towards the town centre and the sea. La campagna di Fenile is one of eight circular routes in the Fano area that can be travelled on foot or by bicycle. Landscape in the Arzilla Valley

In the Arzilla Valley near Fenile, the landscape comprises ploughed fields, rows of olive trees, a vineyard and rows of downy oaks. In the surrounding area, the Bosco di Severini is considered a small remnant of the former forests and is now protected as a floristic area. This combination of agriculturally shaped areas, rows of trees and protected remnant woodland gives the surroundings a distinct rural character.

Oil Mills and Historic Traces

Fenile’s history is also reflected in individual buildings. The Casa il Molino complex is recorded as “il Molino” on the 1818 cadastral map and was in fact an oil mill. At Casa vocabolo Molino, the remains of an older building from the mid-19th century have been preserved; it was used as a summer house and oil mill. The historic oil-mill complex at Casa vocabolo Molino belonged to the Gabuccini family in the 17th century.

Churches and Architectural Details

The Church of Sant’Anna has a hexagonal floor plan. Its brick and sandstone façade is structured by four pilasters crowned with a pediment, together with a sandstone portal. The Church of Santi Pietro e Andrea Apostoli is located in Fenile, Fano, at Piazza Santi Pietro e Andrea 1 and was formerly known as “del Mulino”. The church and Villa Sant’Anna can also be reached via a road that branches off at the beginning of the road between Fenile Vecchio and Roncosambaccio.

Villa Pavani and the Wayside Shrine

In the immediate vicinity of Fenile, Villa Pavani, now Villa Giuliani, is documented in the 1778 cadastre. A building located below Villa Pavani belonged to the villa and is designated as “Giardino” on the 1818 map. Its red-brick façade has corner pilasters, two arches on the ground floor, four framed windows, and a pitched roof with a gable and rosette. The Edikola della Madonna degli Angeli is a wayside shrine; its wall structures suggest that it was built in the 17th century. It is in a severely deteriorated condition; during an inspection in June 2026, it was largely overgrown with ivy, while parts of the masonry and the wooden grille were visible.
