Landscape and Art in Marmorito

One of the notable landmarks is the Finestra sul Marmorito, an artistic window overlooking the hamlet of Marmorito Santa Maria. The Bonardina is also located in the hamlet of Marmorito, an artistic installation by the Big Bench Community Project bearing number 90. The Bonardina stands in the hamlet of Marmorito Santa Maria among Bonarda vineyards.

Churches, Chapels and Historical Traces

The main altar of the Church of Sant'Antonio Abate features a painting attributed to Charles Dauphin, dating from the second half of the 17th century. Aramengo's former castle stood on the Rocca beside the present-day parish church of Sant'Antonio Abate.

The Cappella di Sant'Anna also brings together historical and artistic references. A commemorative plaque recalls that Giovanni Bosco delivered his first public sermon there in 1840, while still a deacon. The main altar features a painting of the Madonna between Sant'Anna and San Gioacchino. The chapel is said to have been first built during the plague of 1348 and rebuilt in the mid-17th century.

In Marmorito, the lunette of the Cappella di San Rocco depicts Saint Roch. At the centre of the Terzo Paradiso artwork in Aramengo is the work “Volto di Madre Natura”. In addition, the Laboratorio Nicola Restauri offers guided tours by arrangement, providing another attraction for travellers interested in art and places of cultural and historical significance.

Routes, Vineyards and San Giorgio

GT.P 17 – La Via delle Orchidee is an approximately 15-kilometre circular trail that runs mainly through the municipalities of Berzano di San Pietro and Aramengo and also partly crosses the area of Albugnano. The route has an optional approximately 7-kilometre round-trip detour to the hamlet of Marmorito in Aramengo, where Big Bench number 90 is located.

Another scenic connection is provided by route GT.P 02: it leads to Aramengo and then descends to Masio, where the Church of San Giorgio is located. San Giorgio is a restored rural chapel of Romanesque origin; a picnic area with benches and tables is located nearby. The municipality's connection with wine is represented by the Piemonte DOC Sauvignon “Bricco del Priore” from Cascina Quarino, which is associated with vineyards in the municipality of Aramengo on San Giorgio hill.

At the Feast of the Madonna della Neve, a Mass and a procession take place on the evening of 5 August.
