Simone between Culture, Mountains and Regional Life
Simone reveals itself through historical connections, mountains, museums and regional festivals. The regional themes range from Valdilana, Valle Mosso and Vallemosso to the wider surrounding area. When planning your trip, it is important to consider whether you want to combine culture, landscapes, hiking or local cuisine.
Historical Traces and Festival Traditions
The Fratelli Simone established their headquarters in the former factory of Cav. Giacomo Sella in Vallemosso; they purchased the factory in 1890. In 2019, Valdilana celebrated the centenary of ARCI Simone. At an initiative in Valdilana, the carnivals covered by the event spanned three centuries up to the present day. Industrial history, community life and festival traditions exist side by side here.
Mountains in the Surrounding Area
Monte Rovella is located in the immediate vicinity of Simone. Monte Rubello, Rocca dell'Argimonia and Monte Terlo are also in the surrounding area. The mountains complement the historical themes with a landscape perspective and provide several natural focal points for planning your visit to the region.
Castle, Museum and Palaces
The surrounding area of Simone also includes Castello di Zumaglia, the Fondazione FILA Museum, Palace Gromo di Ternengo and Palazzo Ferrero. The castle, museum and palaces add a range of cultural themes to your trip.
Hiking and Regional Trails
In the wider surrounding area, Oasi Zegna offers more than 100 kilometres of marked trails through forests, pastures and alpine meadows. This makes it a distinct focus for a hiking-oriented itinerary. The gastronomic hike “Quattro passi e un boccone” had reached its eighth edition and was organised by Amici del Parco Reda together with AIB and Arci Simone.
Festivals with Local Participation
At “4 Passi e 1 Boccone”, a stop was scheduled at Arci Simone, where visitors could eat a hot first course. The carnival celebration included songs, a large confetti battle and a snack. An allegorical group from Arci Simone took part in a carnival celebration in Valle Mosso. The group “Gruppo Allegorico Arci di Simone” was active in connection with the carnival in Valle Mosso.
Everyday Culture and Regional Cuisine
The Museo laboratorio del Mortigliengo presents ethnography from the Mortigliengo area and offers demonstration workshops on traditional activities: producing walnut oil and apple vinegar, growing and drying chestnuts, and processing hemp. Alongside the mountains and festivals, this also brings a craft-oriented everyday culture into focus.
Choose Accommodation Based on Your Itinerary
When choosing a hotel or other accommodation in Simone, you can first determine your main focus: Oasi Zegna and the mountain landscape suit a nature-oriented itinerary, while museums, the castle, palaces, carnival and gastronomic events bring together cultural interests. Since the relevant attractions are spread across Simone, Valdilana, Valle Mosso, Vallemosso and the wider surrounding area, your accommodation should be located suitably for the places you actually want to combine.
