Borgo San Dalmazzo is ideal for travellers who want to combine Italian local history with walks, bike rides, landscapes and regional cuisine. The historic centre, sacred heritage, sites of remembrance and various trails give a stay different focal points. Those looking for a hotel in Borgo San Dalmazzo can plan their visit around culture, physical activity, mountain views or an adventure experience.

Sacred Architectural Heritage and Historic Centre

A late-medieval urban structure has been preserved to this day in the historic centre of Borgo San Dalmazzo. The crypt of the Chiesa Parrocchiale di San Dalmazzo preserves architectural elements from the Lombard period. The Santuario di Monserrato is a 17th-century Marian shrine dedicated to the Black Madonna of Monserrato.

The Museo dell’Abbazia di San Dalmazzo di Pedona combines a museum area, an archaeological tour and a parish museum into a visitor route centred around the Romanesque crypt. On the northern slope of the hill overlooking the town stand thirteen wayside shrines of the Via Crucis di Monserrato, including one with images on both sides.

Remembrance Culture with a Specific Local Connection

On 21 November 1943, 329 people were deported from the railway station in Borgo San Dalmazzo; 311 of them were murdered in Auschwitz. MEMO4345 is a multimedia historical and educational tour about the Shoah in Europe. It is located in the former Sant’Anna church next to the Memoriale della Deportazione and just a few steps from the railway station.

The installation at the Memoriale della Deportazione comprises twenty standing silhouettes representing survivors. All the carriages at the Memoriale della Deportazione are accessible; one has a ramp for people with reduced mobility.

Walking Trails, Bike Rides and Mountain Views

Borgo San Dalmazzo serves as a starting point for walks and cycling excursions. The green route of the Parco Fluviale Lungo il Gesso is an easy, 4-kilometre route along quiet country roads and connects Borgo San Dalmazzo with Cuneo via the riverside park. The red Lungo Gesso route is challenging, 2 kilometres long and runs along the Gesso stream via small country paths.

An easy-to-walk trail leads from the town centre via Via dei Boschi to Beguda and continues in the Valle Stura along a military road. The Via dei Teit is a moderately difficult 18-kilometre mountain-bike route; it leads from Via dei Boschi to Sant’Antonio di Aradolo, returns in the direction of Madonna Bruna and passes old farmyards and homesteads. The Via delle Meridiane reaches Monte Croce at an altitude of 1,210 metres; there, the route offers a 360-degree view of the mountains.

Local Cuisine and Active Experiences

The cuisine of Borgo San Dalmazzo is known for dishes based on snails. The Fiera Fredda della Lumaca takes place annually in Borgo San Dalmazzo and was held for the 456th time in 2025; it is considered a long-standing event dedicated to the snail. In Parco Grandis, the adventure course comprises 14 activities with suspended platforms, ropes, fixed and suspended ladders, and zip lines.

The Arco di San Rocco is freely visible from the road; opposite the arch, there is a car park at Piazzale Bertello. When choosing your accommodation, you can use your preferred daily rhythm as a starting point: historic sightseeing, remembrance culture, an easy trail, a bike ride, a mountain destination or the adventure course reflect different interests.
