Boves Between Nature, Culture and Local Traditions
Boves combines tangible nature experiences with museums, places of remembrance and traditional festivals. Around Lago di Rivoira, on the trails to Punta della Croce and in the town’s various facilities, you will find different ways to experience the landscape and local character.
Music, Mushrooms and Knowledge of Nature
L’Atlante dei Suoni is a theme park in Boves that introduces visitors to music, its rules and its language through games, experiments and discoveries. The Museo del Fungo e delle Scienze Naturali displays more than 1,100 models representing around 250 mushroom species. This allows you to encounter nature not only outdoors, but also in an illustrative museum setting.
The second room of the Museo del Fungo e delle Scienze Naturali contains fossils, minerals, stuffed animals, shells and a collection of more than 130 butterfly species from the Cuneo area. The Museo del Fungo in Boves was established with the contribution of a donation by Dr. Mario Strani to the town of Boves, consisting of around 3,000 handmade and hand-painted mushroom models; some of the models are made of plaster and others of synthetic resin.
Walking Trails around Lago di Rivoira
Lago di Rivoira is also known as Invaso di Tetti Molettino and is an artificial pond at the foot of Bisalta that has become a destination for walks and relaxation. The area around the lake has benches, tables, barbecue facilities and open spaces; nearby paths lead through forests and hilly landscapes. This landscape area can be incorporated into your daily plans by families and anyone who would like to combine time outdoors with breaks.
Trails through Vineyards and Chestnut Woods
The trail to Punta della Croce leads with little elevation gain through vineyards and chestnut woods to a little-known viewpoint with a tall, slender iron cross. Boves also has more challenging trails on mountain paths, which can be used on foot or by bicycle. The range of trails therefore extends from a route with little elevation gain to more athletic excursions in mountainous terrain.
Chestnut Culture and Leisure
The Museo della Castagna has an educational area for activities focused on rural traditions, the forest and chestnut culture, as well as summer activities for children and young people. Parco Marquet is now a sports, cultural and leisure centre offering visitors numerous opportunities for recreation, learning more and relaxing.
Festivals, Flavours and Remembrance
The Festa delle Leve is a tradition in Boves held every year on Easter Monday and involving gatherings, games, solidarity and joyful community spirit. The Spasgiada Galupa is an open-air gastronomic route with enjoyable stops between the districts of Boves and at various locations in the area. Local flavours and traditions are shared there.
History also remains present in Boves: the Ricetto was a fortified refuge in the Middle Ages; only a few traces of its reconstruction remain. “Impronte di una comunità ” includes a collection of agricultural and craft tools from earlier times, as well as everyday objects. Alongside nature and leisure, these themes give your stay an additional historical and social perspective.
