Feisoglio between a circular trail, church art and regional culture

Discover Feisoglio on a circular trail

Feisoglio offers a tangible connection to the landscape and local history: the “La pecorella tra le nocciole” circular trail begins and ends in Piazza XX Settembre and leads to the Cappella di San Sebastiano. The name refers to hazelnuts, while the chapel gives the trail an additional thematic connection.

Chapels, a church and expansive views

Behind the Cappella di San Sebastiano is an equipped picnic area. It is therefore one of the specific points that can be taken into account in connection with the circular trail. Feisoglio is also home to the parish church of San Lorenzo. The church preserves a fresco of the Annunciation there, probably dating from the 16th century.

Next to the parish church of San Lorenzo is a recently created square. From there, visitors can enjoy an elevated view of the agricultural land in the Belbo Valley. The Bric Cupazzolo hill is also located in the surroundings of Feisoglio. Together, these places offer different perspectives on the town: sacred art, an elevated viewpoint and a landscape shaped by agricultural land.

Historical traces with cautious classification

The Cappella di San Giovanni is also one of Feisoglio’s notable historical references. The site where the chapel now stands is said to have previously been occupied by another building.

Culture in the wider region

Several cultural destinations are available for excursions in the wider region around Feisoglio. They include the Strada del Barolo e grandi vini di Langa Museum, the Museo dei Cavatappi di Barolo, Castello Falletti di Barolo and the Casa VIGNA Museum. The four destinations focus on different themes: wine and regional culture, a specialised museum, a castle and another museum venue. They expand a visit to the town with subjects that are particularly suitable for culture-minded travellers to incorporate into their travel plans.

The wider region around Feisoglio also includes the Area Verde Giovanni Falcone Paolo Borsellino garden, the Giardini del Belvedere gardens and Parco Europa. These destinations complement the cultural sites with gardens and parks, without being equated with the local chapels or the parish church.

Events with local connections

Feisoglio is also shaped by events connected with local tradition and physical activity. The Sagra della nocciola in Feisoglio includes the “Le 4 cappelle” race. In addition, the “Grande China dell'Epifania” has been held in Feisoglio for decades. Those wishing to plan their trip around a cultural occasion will therefore find two different options: a race held as part of a hazelnut festival and a long-running Epiphany event.
