Discover Sadali: Waterfall, Nature Trails and Local History

Trails Between the Town Centre and Nature

The “Il Sentiero Delle Fate” hiking trail leads to the Su Stampu ‘e Su Turnu natural monument. The “Il Sentiero dei Carbonai” route explores former productive activities and examines their connection with local tradition and the surrounding nature. Ceraxia is a trail for observing nature. The “Percorso Nigòla” route enables complete immersion in the wild landscape. Water, Caves and Wild Landscape

The natural Cascata di San Valentino is about seven metres high, is fed by the waters of the Funtana Manna and flows through the heart of Sadali’s inhabited town centre. It is considered the only waterfall in Sardinia that originates within an inhabited town centre. The waterfall is therefore not outside the town but within its inhabited centre. Sa Ucca Manna is a cave with long, intact stalactites. Its hydrogeological function lies in its role as a reservoir and water outlet. A colony of bats lives in a chamber of the Grotte di Is Janas known as the “Sala del Guano”. Underground nature thus stands alongside the watercourse of the Cascata: in Sa Ucca Manna, water is collected and channelled away, while the colony lives in the Sala del Guano.

Historical Traces at the Mill and Church

An old watermill stands beside the Cascata di San Valentino and was used to grind grain. The Chiesa di San Valentino was built between the 9th and 10th centuries AD.

Rail Connection from Mandas and Arbatax to Sadali
