Between Mountains, Beach and Birdlife
The mountains Monte Lapera and Monte Maria are located in the vicinity of Teulada. The beach of Spiaggia di Tuerredda and the beach of Spiaggia di Su Giudeu are also nearby. At Capo Malfatano, a Spanish tower rises above the small headland and offers impressive views.
A special connection with nature can be seen at the Is Brebeis pond behind Is Arenas Biancas beach. In summer, the pond serves as a habitat for numerous migratory birds, including flamingos. This allows the beach landscape and birdwatching to be experienced as different aspects of the same area, without equating the individual places with one another.
Trails and Hiking Destinations
The Teulada area has trails that you can explore on foot or by bicycle. A hike of around two hours from Teulada leads to the Sa Perdaia nuraghe. The area is not accessible by car. This information is particularly important for planning if you prefer a hike to a historic site over travelling there by car.
Historic Places Around Teulada
The surroundings of Teulada include the historic site of Nuraghe Maledetta, the ruins of Casa de is Meis, the ruins of Casa Arbai and the historic site of Nuraghe Mannu. The rural church of Sant'Isidoro is located in Tuerra, where Teulada stood before its resettlement in the 17th century. The regional area for exploration therefore includes both older ruins and a place connected to Teulada's history.
The procession in honour of Sant'Isidoro leads from Teulada to the rural church of Sant'Isidoro in Tuerra. This route connects the town with the rural church and makes the religious tradition visible as a concrete part of local cultural life.
Festivals, Library and Local Culture
The festival in honour of Madonna del Carmine in Teulada includes solemn religious ceremonies as well as musical, theatrical and folkloric performances. The Biblioteca Comunale promotes cultural activities such as book presentations, workshops, music and cultural evenings, reading-promotion activities, a Sardinian language course and music workshops. Depending on your personal interests, you can therefore experience Teulada not only through its landscape and excursions, but also through religious celebrations and cultural events.
Sa Tunda and a Typical Bread from Teulada
Sa Tunda is Teulada's typical bread. Its characteristic feature is seven points, known as “pizzi”. The name therefore refers not only to the bread itself, but also to its distinctive design with the seven points.
