The archaeological complex Complesso archeologico di stazzo Inginocchiatu is located in Bassacutena, in the municipality of Tempio Pausania, and has been declared to be of particular archaeological interest under Italian heritage protection law. The ancient sites Antico Stazzo Cunchedda and Nuraghe Albucciu are also located around Bassacutena. These sites give the region a historical dimension without requiring you to focus on a single location.
The churches also provide distinctive points of interest. The small church of San Simplicio di Lu Macchjètu is located in the area of Bassacutena, which belongs to the municipality of Luogosanto. San Giovanni di Liscia lies on the left bank of the Liscia River in the area of Bassacutena, a hamlet of the municipality of Tempio Pausania. At the former church site of Santa Maria di Monti Latu are the foundations of circular structures that probably belonged to huts. There is also a permanently active spring at the same former church site.
For excursions to the coast, there are several beaches around Bassacutena: Spiaggia La liscia, Cala macchia mala, Spiaggia Delle Dune and Rena Majori. In the Lu Furracu area of Bassacutena, the amateur sports association Amphibia offers excursions to the Maddalena Archipelago on foot, by mountain bike, by kayak, while diving and by inflatable boat.
At the Croce dell’Osanna, located near the church of San Giovanni di Liscia, a special memorial service for ancestors is held every year on 25 June. The patron saint’s celebration of San Pietro in Bassacutena also includes the traditional “Caracolu di li banderi” for the surrounding districts and the rural area. Both customs connect religious sites with recurring occasions in local community life.
