S'Archittu is a coastal resort whose character is shaped by the natural arch, striking rocks, beaches and the transitional landscape between Montiferru and Sinis. Natural Arch and Landscape
One defining natural feature is the S'Archittu natural arch, which is approximately 15 metres high. It consists of marine, partly sandstone-like limestones from the Middle Miocene, which are approximately 15 to 11 million years old. The arch is the remnant of a former sea-erosion grotto and was formed by the erosion of the sea and the atmosphere in fossil-bearing detrital limestones containing echinoids and bivalves. S'Archittu is also considered a natural monument.
S'Archittu lies within the Parco naturale del Sinis-Montiferru nature park. At the same time, the resort is located where the volcanically shaped hills and mountains of Montiferru meet the flat sedimentary coast of Sinis. The landscape also includes three mushroom-shaped islets smoothed by the waves. These geological contrasts give the coastal landscape a clear spatial structure: on one side, the rugged surroundings; on the other, the flat coastal zone.
At the southern entrance lies Spiaggia Stella, a long, narrow beach with light, greyish-looking sand and pebbles. The large rock La Balena protects this beach. The beach at S'Archittu has fine ochre-coloured sand with golden reflections and shell fragments, and slopes into a shallow, sandy seabed. For coastal planning, this means that distinctive rock formations as well as different sand and seabed structures can be taken into account.
Shore, Paths and Arrival
The bay at S'Archittu can be reached directly on foot from the holiday village via a paved path north of the houses. The paved waterfront promenade is called Via degli Oleandri; the S'Archittu area is illuminated at night. Canoe and pedal boat rental are among the tourist services available for activities on the water. When choosing your accommodation, you can therefore pay particular attention to whether you want to focus your trip on coastal walks, beach observation or activities on the water.

Cinematic and Historical References
S'Archittu has been used as a filming location, including for the 1966 film “2+5 missione Hydra”. The resort also served as the setting for the opening scene of “Notte d'estate con profilo greco, occhi a mandorla e odore di basilico”. A small harbour near the ancient settlement of Cornus is documented in the vicinity of S'Archittu for the period from the late Punic era to the early Middle Ages.
