The headland of Torre del Pozzo, La Balena, dominates a stretch of coast consisting mainly of limestone cliffs. From Torre del Pozzo, the view extends as far as Capo Mannu. The limestone cliffs of the headland and the surrounding beaches form two distinct coastal areas of Torre del Pozzo. Is Arenas Beach, also known as sas Renas, stretches for almost six kilometres and is bordered to the north by the tip of Torre del Pozzo. In Cuglieri, the TORRE DEL POZZO bathing-water section covers 1,684 metres.
Archaeological and Historical Traces
Sa Turre de Su Puttu, a settlement dating from the Early Neolithic and dated to the 6th millennium BC, is located on the headland of Torre del Pozzo. Torre Su Puttu dates from the 16th century. The ancient sites Nuraghe Silbanis, Nuraghe Aurras, Nuraqhe Rosario and Nuraghe Ruju are also located in the area around Torre del Pozzo. Thus, different historical periods can be encountered around the coast: a Neolithic settlement, an Early Modern-period tower and several ancient sites in the nearby area.
Diving at La Balena
At the La Balena diving site, entry into the water is from the shore. The maximum diving depth there is approximately 12 to 14 metres. Together with the beaches, limestone cliffs and historical sites, this creates a destination whose appeal is not based on just one holiday theme.
