The seaside promenade in Marina Di Modica is ideal for sunset walks. An accommodation in Marina Di Modica may therefore be an interesting option if you would like to combine a coastal stay with a peaceful evening by the sea.
Beach, Harbor and Seaside Square
Marina Di Modica has a beach with fine, golden sand. The town also has a small harbor and a square opening toward the sea. For personal travel planning, this creates three distinct points of reference: the sandy beach for time spent on the coast, the harbor for the maritime setting, and the open square as a public space facing the sea. When choosing a hotel or other accommodation, you can weigh these features according to your preferred daily rhythm.
The new section of Marina Di Modica’s pier quay was officially opened for public use. The quay thus marks a distinct section of the coast and adds another public waterfront area to the townscape.
Natural Areas and Coastal Character
Marina Di Modica has held the FEE Blue Flag since 2021 and received the award again in 2026. The dunes, too, are significant beyond the individual beach: they are important to the entire coastline. The seagrass species Posidonia is found in the sea off Marina Di Modica.
A nest of the loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) was discovered on Marina Di Modica beach in 2024.
Water Sports for Different Skill Levels
In the area around Marina Di Modica, Al Velico offers windsurfing, sailing, wingfoiling, surfing and SUP courses or learning opportunities for several skill levels. Those interested in water sports can choose between different disciplines: SUP stands for stand-up paddleboarding, while windsurfing, sailing, wingfoiling and surfing each represent their own way of engaging with the water. This allows you to choose your preferred activity based on personal interests, without limiting the coast to a single sport.
The courses and activities offered by Al Velico in the surrounding area are open to participants aged six and over. Beginners have an introductory pathway in every discipline, with a gradual progression and a focus on safety. The learning process therefore explicitly takes different levels of experience into account, rather than focusing only on the individual sport.
Coastal History at Ciarciolo
Remains of landing stages have been found on the coast of Ciarciolo near Marina Di Modica, where small fishing boats could find shelter almost two thousand years ago. In addition to its recreational and natural attractions, this discovery gives the coast a historical dimension. This provides another point of interest for visitors interested in culture who want to understand the area not only through its beach and water sports, but also through its coastal history.
