Altitude at the Pütia

Antermoia lies at 1,515 meters above sea level at the foot of the Pütia, a distinctive massif in the Dolomites. This location provides a clear scenic framework for planning your trip: mountain views, trails and winter activities are among the different ways to get to know Antermoia. If you choose accommodation as a starting point, you can therefore pay particular attention to the combination of nature experiences, hiking and winter sports you want.

Valdander Baths and Mineral Spring

On the outskirts of Antermoia, the traditional Valdander Baths lie in a narrow, wooded gorge. About 100 meters from the baths, a mineral spring rises from limestone rock belonging to the Bellerophon strata. Its alkaline-earthy water is considered invigorating and healing. For you, this specific place combines forest, gorge and a geological feature; the Valdander Baths therefore represent not only the landscape but also the nature of the ground beneath it.

Traces of Local History

The place name has been handed down in several historical forms: “Undermoy” in 1263, “Antermoja” in 1482 and “Antermeja” in the Ladin form in 1883. The Chapel of Sant’Antonio Abate in Antermoia was once an important subsidiary church. Those interested in Ladin linguistic history and local ecclesiastical history will find two clearly identifiable aspects of Antermoia’s past here.

An indulgence certificate associated with the chapel from the year 1500 granted 100 days of indulgence for visiting the chapel on certain feast days, for confession or for a donation. For visitors interested in cultural history, this provides a precisely datable detail that goes beyond the history of the name.

Hiking Routes to the Würzjoch

For hikers, two routes lead from Antermoia to the Würzjoch. From the craftsmen’s area in Antermoia, a hiking route of approximately four kilometers with 500 meters of ascent leads to the Würzjoch in about one hour and 45 minutes. From the valley station of the ski lift, another route of approximately four kilometers follows Hiking Trail No. 8 and Fornela; it climbs 480 meters and leads to the Würzjoch in about one hour and 30 minutes.

Trails in Different Seasons

Hiking Trail No. 8 begins opposite the church in Antermoia and leads to the bridge near Fidelis. The Antermoia–Plaza–Plan Murin–Fidelis–Antermoia route can be walked in summer and winter. In summer, the route from Börz toward Antermoia serves as a relaxed walk through the forests at the foot of the Pütia. If you plan your accommodation and daily itinerary around trails, it is therefore worth considering the respective starting point and the season you want.

Winter around Börz

Around Börz, the Würzjoch Pass, the natural landscape lies at the entrance to the Puez-Odle Nature Park. From Börz, a toboggan run descends toward Antermoia; there is also a cross-country skiing facility around Börz. In Antermoia, lifts enable alpine skiing in winter. This makes it possible to combine specific winter interests around Antermoia, such as tobogganing, cross-country skiing and alpine skiing, with the mountain landscape at the Pütia and the natural surroundings near Börz.
