Mountain trails around Stulles

Several mountain destinations around Stulles offer different types of routes. The tour to Stuller Hochwart leads from the Stuller Mahder meadows via Egger-Grub-Alm and onward to Hochalm. The tour to Hohe Kreuzspitze also runs via Egger-Grub-Alm and Hochalm.

The final ten metres of ascent to Stuller Hochwart require particular attention: the climb is almost vertical there and is equipped with a fixed steel cable. Parking is available for this tour at the car park by the church in Stulles. Stulles can also be reached several times a day by public bus from Moos.

The Sonnenrundweg also starts at the car park by the church in Stulles. It leads across sunny slopes and through secluded forests. The Sonnenweg runs near Stulles and is part of a 3.5-hour hike between Valtina and Glaiten.

In winter, the hike from Stulles to Egger-Grub-Alm follows the broad farm track 14B or the forest path 14; the return to Stulles follows the same route. In heavy snowfall, the route should remain on farm track 14B, as forest path 14 is very steep and usually not cleared in winter.

Waterfalls and climbing experiences

The Stuller Waterfalls lie below Stulles. The water plunges down in two cascades, first 112 metres and then a further 230 metres. The waterfalls can be seen from Breiteben, the Timmelsjoch road and the Passerschluchtweg, meaning that this natural attraction can be encountered from various points in the surrounding area.

The starting point for the Stuller Waterfalls can be reached by bus route 240 from Merano to Moos and then by route 241 from Moos to Stulles. Bus route 241 runs from Moos towards Stulles and Rabenstein; the stop “Stuls, Weger” belongs to this route. The final section of the Stuller Waterfall via ferrata can be walked from Stulles as a short route along a footpath. Path no. 10a leads downhill north of Stulles to the main village of Moso and also serves as the descent route from the Stuller Waterfall via ferrata.

The Stuller Waterfall via ferrata is a steep and exposed climbing route in the immediate vicinity of the waterfall and has a medium difficulty level. Its middle section also offers a very difficult variant, which can be bypassed. The Stuls climbing garden has 65 climbing routes.

Village church and local products

The parish church of St. Joseph is a prominent feature of the village. It is Baroque and the only church in Hinterpasseier with an onion dome and a shingle roof. Its original bells survived the First World War undamaged because Stulles was difficult to reach due to its remote location. The architecture and history of the village can be connected here through a specific building.

The Wegerhof is also one of the places to visit for regional impressions. Wegerhof Dairy offers guided farm tours in German or Italian upon request. Cheese is produced there from silage-free pasture milk using traditional cheesemaking methods and then matured in the farm’s own cellar. The farm shop sells the dairy products made there during opening hours or by appointment.
