Lake Carezza between lake and mountain landscape
Nature and landscape take center stage at Lake Carezza. Lago di Carezza is a protected natural monument fed by underground springs from the Latemar. For planning your trip, this combines a clearly defined natural destination with trails, viewpoints and mountain destinations in the surrounding area.
At the lake: accessible circular trail and a break
The panoramic platform and the circular trail at Lago di Carezza are accessible. If you take this aspect into account when planning your day, the confirmed accessibility applies specifically to these two facilities and not automatically to other trails or destinations. The visitor center at Lago di Carezza offers two bistros.
Hikes between Carezza and Nova Levante
For a hike, the circular route from Nova Levante to Lago di Carezza can be divided into clear sections: it follows a shaded forest path along the Rio di Nova Levante and returns via the historic Herrensteig trail. A family hike from Carezza to the Monumento di Elisabetta begins at the parking lot at the Paolina chairlift’s valley station. In winter, the Passeggiata Elisabetta passes the historic Grand Hotel and ends at the Monumento di Elisabetta. These trails therefore differ in terms of starting point, season and route: Nova Levante, Carezza and the winter trail each represent their own way of exploring the area.
Viewpoints and mountain destinations
The “mountain cinema” consists of six viewpoints between Nova Ponente, Obereggen, Collepietra and Nova Levante-Carezza. The surrounding area of Carezza also includes the peaks of Punta Masare, Cima Sforcella and Latemar (Diamantiditurm), as well as Rotwand mountain. This allows you to distinguish between viewpoints and mountain destinations when choosing your activities.
Sporting routes in Latemarium
In Latemarium, fitness enthusiasts can enjoy the latemar.bike and latemar.run routes and take a short break at Lago di Carezza. The lake is therefore also part of the planning as a place to pause within this sporting context.
Museums, castle and ruins in the surrounding area
The Latemar Art Museum is located in the immediate vicinity of Carezza; Castel Salego castle lies in the surrounding area of Carezza. Further afield in the region is the Museo della Apicoltura Plattner, while the ruins of Castelveccio are located in the surrounding area of Carezza. The different scopes of these location references help you consider nearby destinations and more extensive excursions separately, without treating them as a single place to visit.
Accommodation and practical orientation
There is a stop at Lago di Carezza called “Nova Levante, Lago di Carezza”. When choosing accommodation in Lake Carezza, you can first decide based on the focus of your days: the accessible circular trail, forest paths and routes, the winter walk, mountain destinations or museums in the surrounding area. The specific stop complements this planning without anticipating anything about the timetable or transport operator. This keeps the decision focused on what you actually want to do, rather than treating all destinations as equally close or equally accessible.
More places for planning your trip
If you would like to compare other places for your trip to Italy in addition to Lake Carezza, you can find Mölten, Sarntal, Eggen, Karneid, Kastelruth, Jenesien, Ritten and St. Ulrich in Gröden here.
