Located between farm gardens and the panorama of the Dolomites, the village lies in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and in the heart of the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park. Easy trails for different interests

The Stone Mile in Olang is a varied themed and walking trail with informative stations. The route is mostly flat or has only gentle inclines. The family-friendly walking path from Niederolang to Mitterolang also leads through Mühlbach and is suitable for pushchairs. There is a playground along the way. The public children's playground in Mitterolang offers slides, spring riders and opportunities for building sandcastles. For a short break in the village, there is also a drinking-water fountain at Floriani Square in Mitterolang, which is freely and free of charge accessible.

Panoramic trails, alpine pastures and longer tours

The more relaxing options include pleasant panoramic trails in the village. Those looking for a more athletic hike will find a suitable hiking destination in the distinctive Dolomite peak Piz da Peres. Guided tours of alpine pastures are also offered in Olang. The different types of trails therefore range from easy-to-walk sections in the village to a distinctive summit destination.

The 105-kilometre Puster Valley Cycle Route runs through Mitterolang. Another tour begins in the centre of Mitterolang: the tour „From Olang to Staller Sattel“ leads through the entire Anterselva Valley, past villages, meadows and forests, to Lake Anterselva.

Places of remembrance and regional history

The Peter Sigmayr monument stands in the centre of Mitterolang. It commemorates the Olang hero of 1809/10. In the area of Valdaora di Mezzo, the Lipper Säge is located in Oberolang, an easily accessible Venetian sawmill from the 19th century. It was last operated in 1958 and restored in 2011. The Lipper Säge is considered the last surviving Venetian sawmill and a unique testimony to the history of the Puster Valley timber industry.

The festival calendar is also connected with local tradition. The traditional festival in Valdaora di Mezzo takes place on the weekend after the Feast of Saint Giles and usually falls on the first weekend of September. Saint Giles is invoked by shepherds and hunters and venerated as the patron saint of livestock and against the plague.
