St. Gertraud parish church is mentioned in the Württemberg Document Book around 1278. On 16 October 1492, it was rededicated with a high altar in honour of Saint Gertraud and Saint Mary Magdalene. The Chapel in Winkel belongs to the parish of St. Gertraud. It was built in 1895 and is connected to the church by a Way of the Cross. The ancient larches of the Ultental Valley are located near St. Gertraud and can be reached on foot in around half an hour. In winter, they can be reached as part of a winter hike. The three surviving larches, thousands of years old, are considered the oldest coniferous trees in Europe.
