Kurpark: peace, activity and events

The Kurpark covers 5 hectares in the centre of Niederdorf. It includes walking paths, quiet areas, a botanical educational trail, a children's playground, a tennis bar and an Airdome. During the warmer months, the park also offers the Raiffeisen Kneipp für mich Aktivpark, the brine graduation house and the Raiffeisen Motorikpark. An idyllically landscaped lake with a lakeside stage and spectator grandstand serves as a natural setting for various events. This means the Kurpark can be experienced in a quiet, playful or active way, depending on your interests.

Churches and museum in Haus Wassermann

The parish church of St. Stephen is a late Baroque building dating from 1792 to 1796. Next to its church staircase stands a Gothic double chapel from the 15th century. The Hochpustertal Tourism Museum in Haus Wassermann offers another opportunity to learn about local and regional history: it documents the history of tourism in the Hochpustertal. It also presents the construction of the railway line in the Puster Valley, which contributed to the development of modern tourism; a separate room is dedicated to the early development of alpine sports. The Church of St. Magdalena in Moos (Moos Church) was built in 1490 through a foundation established by Countess Paula von Gonzaga, the wife of Margrave Leonhard of Gorizia.

Trails through Niederdorf and to Lake Toblach

The themed trail “Balance – Places of Power & Forest Therapy” is approximately 12.5 kilometres long and runs around Niederdorf. The cycle route “Niederdorf – Lake Toblach – Niederdorf” offers a different perspective on the landscape. It runs from Niederdorf along well-developed cycle paths through meadows and forests and alongside small mountain streams to Lake Toblach. When planning, you can therefore choose between a themed route running around Niederdorf and a ride through meadows, forests and stream landscapes.

Orienteering with 28 checkpoints

Orienteering also leads through specific locations in the village. You can request an orienteering map from the Villabassa tourist information office. The activity includes 28 checkpoints throughout the village and extends from the Church of St. Magdalena to the Kurpark. Possible starting points are in the station area or at the eastern entrance to the Kurpark; stamps can be collected at the checkpoints. In this way, sightseeing and physical activity are combined with a clearly defined sequence of points.
