Wildlife and Paths between the Village and the Forest

Spormaggiore combines nature observation with cultural and historical attractions and paths leading from the village into the forest. The Belpark Parco Faunistico Spormaggiore is located in Località Albarè Plan della Fontana. There, you can observe wildlife in an environment that recreates its natural habitat. This gives the village a clear focus for visitors interested in animals and nature-based experiences.

The “Percorso Vita” begins at the Piazza in Spormaggiore, leads through the village and then into the forest. The “Strada Romana” path begins after a short ascent along a path starting from the Piazza in Spormaggiore. Both paths use the Piazza as an important reference point, but then continue in different directions between the village area and the forest.

The forest around the Belpark also features special themes. The “Di Ramo in Ramo” art trail is one of three artistic paths that have enriched the forest around the Belpark in Spormaggiore since 2017. I Sasedei is an area in the forest equipped for climbing.

Bear Knowledge and Historic Buildings

Casa del Parco Orso is an interactive bear museum in the historic Corte Franca building in Spormaggiore. The visitor centre is located in the Palazzo Corte Franca, which dates back to the 14th century. An interactive tour, films, dioramas and games provide information about bear biology, the relationship between humans and bears, and the Life Ursus project. The dioramas recreate animal habitats and reflect the nature-oriented character of the Belpark.

Another historic connection leads to Castel Belfort. The complex is located on the main road between Spormaggiore and Cavedago. Castel Belfort was built in 1311 as a watchtower to control the route between Andalo, the Valle dello Sporeggio and Trento. On a route starting from Spormaggiore, Castel Rovina is considered an old manor house dating from the 11th century.
