Legri: Circular Routes, Village History and La Bottega

Legri brings together several tangible aspects of the Italian landscape and local history: new paths to Collina, historical evidence along a circular route, a Romanesque pieve, sensory nature experiences, and culinary tradition at La Bottega.

New Paths and Circular Routes

New paths connect Legri with Collina. A new route variant connects Lago di Legri with Collina and forms a circular route via Torre and Poggio Montroti. For individual route planning, the connection to Collina can be considered as a separate section alongside the circular route; Torre and Poggio Montroti mark the circular route.

The Via di Scarabone is also laid out as a circular route. It runs between Vaglia, Legri and Volmiano and combines impressive landscapes with historical evidence from the area. The three place names also provide concrete reference points for planning your own route.

Pieve and Castello di Legri

The Pieve di San Severo is located within the village of Legri. It may date back as far as the 6th century and has been preserved in its Romanesque form from the 11th to the 12th century. For those interested in culture, this places a possible early origin and a preserved Romanesque form at the centre.

The Castello di Legri was first mentioned in 1191, under the names “Castello di Legri” and “Castrum Ligari”. The precise date and the two recorded names give the local history a distinct historical point of reference.

Water, Sounds of Nature and Landscape

Legri’s sensory station includes water-themed games, outdoor sensory paths and amplifiers for sounds of nature. Water, movement in the open air and consciously perceptible sounds offer three different ways of engaging with the surroundings. Water is the focus of the games; the paths are outdoors, and the amplifiers make sounds of nature consciously perceptible.

A municipal project also provides for a sensory station in Legri at the Torrente Marinella, as well as nearby recreational and equipped areas. The stream therefore represents another specific connection between the village and its landscape.

One route leads to the scattered houses known as Quercia Mencola and then follows a path to the botanical area. The route thus identifies both the group of houses and the botanical destination as components of the landscape experience. When planning, the transition from the group of houses to the botanical area can be taken into account as a separate section.

Culinary Tradition at La Bottega

The osteria-style menu includes fresh, handmade pasta. In addition, La Bottega offers themed dinners under the motto “Bottega e Territorio”, presenting the area through its culinary tradition. The motto connects the evening with the area and its culinary tradition, not just with individual dishes.
