Castles, Museum and Merigar

Rocca Aldobrandesca is one of the oldest and best-preserved medieval castles in the Amiata area. Its construction probably began around the year 860 on existing buildings dating from the Lombard period. The Museo del Paesaggio Medievale is located on the top floor of Castello Aldobrandesco in Arcidosso.

Chestnut Culture and Regional Perspectives

Arcidosso lies within the production area of Castagna del Monte Amiata IGP. This is a chestnut whose flavour is considered mild and sweet. MACO houses a collection of more than 5,000 objects of Asian art and craftsmanship, as well as ethnographic artefacts from the Namkhai collection.
