Cultural history nearby

Near Maglietola is the Church of San Terenzio in San Terenzo Monti. It is one of the oldest churches in Lunigiana and was founded in 728 by the Lombard Transualdo. Its interior is decorated in the Baroque style, and it contains a 15th-century marble baptismal font. The foundation date, design, and baptismal font offer culturally minded travelers specific points of interest from different historical periods.

Maglietola’s history, too, is marked by a devastating event: the village was among those reduced to rubble during the Vinca massacre, from August 24 to 27.

Hiking trails nearby

Two routes can be compared by length and layout. Sentiero 200 is a 2.2-kilometer loop between San Terenzo and Valla. Sentiero 201V is 2.4 kilometers long on the stretch from Bardine to Maestà della Cima. Their lengths are similar, but their layouts differ: one is a loop, while the other is a stretch between two named points. So when planning, consider not only the distance but also which type of route you are looking for. The 201V stretch is 200 meters longer than the loop.

At the trail signpost at an elevation of 389 meters, Sentiero 201V is described as a clear, fairly wide path. It descends through the woods and then continues over ascents and descents; it also offers a view of Maglietola. Via dei Martiri di San Terenzo begins opposite the start of Sentiero 201V and provides another landmark nearby. Check current trail conditions before setting out on a hike.
