Rifugio antiaereo della Martana is the largest air-raid shelter built in Massa. It was constructed between 1942 and 1943 in about one year and could accommodate thousands of people. Teatro Guglielmi opened on 25 April 1886 with a performance of Gaetano Donizetti’s opera Maria di Rohan; the opera was on the programme for twelve consecutive evenings. The collection of Museo Gigi Guadagnucci dates back to the donation to the city of Massa in 2012 of an extensive collection of works by the artist and his wife.
