Fabbrica: history, art and rural perspectives

Fabbrica combines a historically documented site with contemporary art, regional landscapes and Italian culinary culture. The Pieve di Santa Maria Assunta di Fabbrica was first mentioned in a document on 8 May 776. This gives the village a clear historical point of reference that can be readily connected with the later traces visible in the townscape and the cultural destinations in the surrounding area.

Art in sacred spaces

The Cappella dei Santi Rocco e Sebastiano e Madonna del Latte in Fabbrica houses a permanent VOCI installation conceived by Vittorio Corsini. The associated VOCI work features a vibrating altar from which the author's voice spreads. The work therefore focuses not only on visual experience, but also on sound and perception.

The chapel also contains a terracotta group from the 15th century. It depicts the Madonna nursing the child. In Fabbrica, you will therefore encounter different forms of artistic expression: a historic terracotta depiction, a permanent installation and the symbolically oriented work “Senza titolo”, in which Garutti carried out a primarily symbolically motivated restoration measure on a façade.

Historic traces in the townscape

Remains of Fabbrica's former fortifications have been incorporated into newer residential buildings. These include the Torrino and Villa Rosselli Del Turco. Historic architecture therefore appears here not only as a freestanding individual monument, but also in connection with later homes.
