Colbassano: Local History at Monte Cucco

Colbassano is considered one of the settlements of Fossato di Vico with very ancient origins. Between 1516 and 1542, Villa Collis Bassani was one of the settlements in the Fossato di Vico area at that time. The historic villa associated with Colbassano is referred to as “Villa Collis Bassani.” The years 1516 to 1542 belong to the 16th century.

The local history of San Pietro includes a defined ecclesiastical period: the former parish of San Pietro in Colbassano existed from 1826 to 1860. The Church of San Pietro in Colbassano is no longer a parish church today.

Landscape and Regional Context

Fossato di Vico lies at the foot of the Umbrian-Marchigiano Apennines in Parco del Monte Cucco.
