Monte Del Lago is a small village on a promontory that slopes steeply down to Lake Trasimeno, between Torricella and San Feliciano. Defensive wall, church art and historic houses

Monte Del Lago has a defensive wall whose construction began in 1312. Along the panoramic path by the walls, you can see the Porta Trasimena.

The Chiesa di Sant’Andrea is a single-nave building with a sandstone portal erected in 1608. At least three previously anonymous painters worked on the church at different times between approximately the late 14th century and the first half of the 15th century.

The Palazzo Schnabl was the residence of the musicologist Riccardo Rossi Schnabl, a close friend of the composer Giacomo Puccini, who was a frequent guest there. The 19th-century palazzo was also a salon frequented by artists. Villa Aganoor Pompilj stands at the entrance to the village; Giuseppe Pompilj built it around the middle of the 19th century.

Putting the cycle path and lakeshore into practical perspective

The Ciclovia del Trasimeno follows a leafy, tree-lined path around the promontory of Monte Del Lago. One access point to the Ciclovia lies between Monte Del Lago and San Feliciano. If you are planning a bike tour, this provides a clear spatial reference for choosing your starting area.

A free car park is available on Via della Strage near the access point to the Ciclovia del Trasimeno by Monte Del Lago. The same road ends at a steep staircase leading to the shore of Lake Trasimeno and the village landing stage. For planning purposes, the higher village and the direct descent to the water are therefore clearly distinct.

Local flavor and a festive date

Zzurla is a historic festival in Monte Del Lago centered on the famous Zzurlini. These are egg pasta served with a sauce made from perch fillets.

From August 29 to September 6, 2026, Monte Del Lago will host the Festival delle Corrispondenze, a cultural event about writing, letters and dialogue through words. This period adds a clear cultural emphasis to your travel planning.
