San Fatucchio between the lake, hills and history
San Fatucchio reveals itself through two closely connected images: the residential area of Sanfatucchio lies on a hill overlooking Lake Trasimeno. The Chiesa di San Felice Papa stands on a hill about 300 metres from Sanfatucchio, surrounded by cypress trees and Umbria’s gentle hills. When choosing accommodation for your stay, you can therefore focus either on the landscape or on the sites of cultural and historical interest.
Historical traces around Sanfatucchio
Etruscan and Roman tombs in the area around Sanfatucchio attest to the presence of ancient cultures. A Villanovian tomb was also found along the road from Sanfatucchio to Vaiano. Some structures are still visible in Sanfatucchio and, according to the historian Don Remo Serafini, belonged to an earlier customs and market area of the duchy. The history of the place is therefore evident both in archaeological traces and in preserved structures from everyday life in the past.
Churches, museum and living tradition
The Chiesa di San Felice was built between 1200 and 1300. Another stop of ecclesiastical historical interest is the Chiesa di Santa Maria delle Grazie: in 1632, it was declared a parish church by the Bishop of Città della Pieve, Sebastiano Ricci. The Museo della civiltà contadina “Il granaio della memoria” is located in the Casa del Contadino next to the Chiesa di San Felice Papa. The museum includes a library with around 800 volumes on local Umbrian history and traditions, ethnomusicology, linguistics, photography, hagiography, as well as folk tales, legends and popular narratives.
Hands-on experiences for children and adults
The Museo della civiltĂ contadina offers workshops for children and adults featuring practical creative experiences. During a workshop at the Granaio della Memoria, children learned how to make silk threads from cocoons, tried out small looms and watched a large loom being operated.

The combination of islands and mountain broadens the landscape views beyond the hill overlooking Lake Trasimeno.
