Belluno between urban history and mountain landscapes

Belluno represents a combination of urban art history and mountain landscapes. Art and Venetian heritage

This cultural focus is particularly evident at the Palazzo Fulcis De Bertoldi. Following a restoration project that began in 2012, the palazzo became the new home of the historical and artistic collections of the Civic Museums of Belluno. The palazzo has approximately 3,000 m² of exhibition space across five levels.

Belluno’s new cathedral was built from 1517 onward based on a design by Tullio Lombardo. It houses works by Cesare Vecellio, Andrea Meldolla (lo Schiavone), Jacopo Da Ponte, Andrea Brustolon and Gaspare Diziani. The Palazzo dei Rettori served as the seat of the Venetian rectors who governed Belluno and its territory for almost four hundred years; the palace is located in the immediate vicinity of Belluno. The inner arch of the Porta Dojona was built in 1289 by Vecello da Cusighe for the bishop and count Adalgerio da Villalta. The Palazzo del Capitano, a palace, and the Museo Civico Belluno, a museum, are also located in the immediate vicinity of Belluno.

Mountains and trails around Belluno

Col Falalto, Monte Peron, Monte Serva and Monte Malvano are mountains in the area around Belluno. Monte Serva lies within a national park. In the Valle dell’Ardo, some trails form part of the Club Alpino Italiano trail network and are accessible to hikers. Walk or mountain hike

One specific hike leads from Col di Roanza to the summit of Monte Serva via trail 517 and takes approximately three and a half hours. This allows you to choose between a clearly defined tour through the mountain landscape and various themed routes through the city, depending on whether the focus is on experiencing nature or on historical orientation.
