Canai is a starting point for walks and hikes with views across the Valbelluna. If you would like to combine your stay with experiences in the landscape, the trails around the village offer far-reaching views across the valley.

Hiking on Monte Artent

The landscape is particularly impressive along the Giro della Val della Vena. This scenic circular trail runs at the foot of Monte Artent and passes through the villages of Canai and Colderù, as well as the pastures of Le Fosse. From there, the meadows open up views of the Feltrino area and the Belluno Dolomites. The Giro della Val della Vena is a moderately difficult hike along footpaths and unpaved roads. With approximately 750 metres of elevation gain and a duration of around four hours, the route requires appropriate time planning. This gives you a clearly defined hike in which the route, elevation difference and views are closely connected. For the route around Monte Artent, a generous time window is more suitable than a tightly scheduled succession of several activities. The approximately four hours can be understood as the timeframe for the entire circular trail, while the roughly 750 metres of elevation gain define the ascent. The route is therefore designed as a continuous day of hiking in Canai and the Valbelluna, where the ascent and duration must be taken into account together on site.

Cycling through Canai

Cyclists will also find a specific point of reference in Canai: The route Cycling among the daffodils leads to Stabie and passes through the village of Canai. The tour is aimed at mountain bike and gravel cycling enthusiasts. Those who would like to include different activities in their travel plans can consider the Giro della Val della Vena and Cycling among the daffodils as two independent routes, each with its own focus.

Santa Giuliana and the Cippo le Fosse

Santa Giuliana is the patron saint of Canai. At Frammenti d'arte in Valbelluna, an annual event, the public can discover the hidden artistic and religious treasures of the region's small churches. As part of Chiesette aperte in Valbelluna, an interior visit to the Chiesetta di Canai – Santa Giuliana was also scheduled. These two event references make the church a specific cultural topic for visitors without equating its status at the time of those events with general accessibility.

Another distinctive site is the Cippo le Fosse. It is a memorial stone in the hamlet of Le Fosse in Canai. The Cippo le Fosse was erected at the site where a howitzer shell killed two Alpini soldiers and injured several people. In 2018, the memorial stone was completely restored by De Cet Sante.
