Language and Historic Townscape

Sappada Vecchia is characterised by historic wooden houses built using the traditional log construction method. Casa Museo della Civiltà Contadina Puicher s’Kottlars haus/schtol is located in Borgata Cretta. It is a simple house dating from the second quarter of the 19th century and has an attached stable and hayloft.

Museums and Local History

The Museo Etnografico Giuseppe Fontana in Cima Sappada presents a tour ranging from the natural environment to the identity of the local community. It provides visitors with knowledge about the geology, flora and fauna of the Sappada Valley. A historical section of the Museo Etnografico Giuseppe Fontana covers the origins and history of the people of Sappada up to the present day.

The Piccolo Museo della Grande Guerra preserves an extensive collection of finds and memorabilia from both opposing sides of the First World War. High Valley and Trails

The high valley of Val Sesis extends at the foot of Monte Peralba, a symbolic 2,694-metre-high peak of the Carnic Alps, and is home to the famous sources of the Piave.
