Faller: Church, Apple Culture and Trails at Monte Avena
Faller lies on the western foothills of Monte Avena. The third stage starts here, while the church, chapel and murals provide tangible traces of the village’s history. The apple trees add a distinctive accent to the annual cycle: in May, their blossoms make the meadows look like a floating blanket of snow.
Stage and walks around Faller
The third stage starts in Faller at an altitude of 777 metres and ends at Passo Croce d’Aune at 1,015 metres. It leads from Faller and Borgata Panizzer towards the Ausor Valley via the new “Appocher Giovanni” Trail. In addition, the Area picnic Faller di Sovramonte serves as a starting point and place to stop for walks and excursions in the surrounding area; two picnic tables are available there.

Church, chapel and murals
The Church of Saints Quirino and Giulietta is of ancient origin. It was rebuilt and enlarged in 1630. Following the cholera epidemic of 1836, the Chapel of Saint Filomena was added to the church; it houses a wax statue of the patron saint in a glass display case. Several murals in the centre of Faller are considered evidence of the local past and expressions of deeply rooted popular devotion. The years 1630 and 1836 mark two different stages in the construction history of the church.
Casa Trento on Piazza Corrent
Casa Trento at Piazza Corrent 17 in Faller also leads into this tangible local history. The house features a fresco of Madonna di Loreto from 1794, which was refreshed in 1867, as well as a fresco of Madonna di Caravaggio from the 18th century.
Pom Prussian apple and Fiera della Mela Prussiana
The Pom Prussian apple is red with yellow stripes, medium-sized to large, very crisp and has a slightly tart aftertaste. The Fiera della Mela Prussiana takes place every October in Faller di Sovramonte. Along the streets of Faller, local products and traditional handicrafts take centre stage. Numerous food stalls serve traditional dishes and homemade desserts.
