The Castello di Monselice served between the 11th and 16th centuries as a lordly residence, defensive tower and finally as a Venetian villa. Its history therefore combines representative living and defence with its later use as a Venetian villa.

Villa Duodo was built by the Venetian noble Duodo family on the site of an old castle called San Giorgio. The Santuario Giubilare delle Sette Chiese consists of six chapels arranged along the hillside and a seventh church, San Giorgio. Monselice lies along the Cammino di Sant’Antonio. The Ufficio del Pellegrino di Monselice is a station where pilgrims can receive a route stamp and the Miliarium.

Nature and archaeological trail and gardens

The nature and archaeological trail on the Colle della Rocca takes around 90 minutes and provides insights into the hill’s flora, fauna and history.

The Parco Buzzaccarini is an English landscape park with a pond, ditches and a botanical garden. Admission to the Giardino Botanico di Monselice is free all year round. Both places bring landscaped surroundings and botanical themes into your travel planning.

Museums and archaeological traces

The Franciscan ethnographic museum houses objects from mission areas in the Far East, particularly China, as well as from Africa and Polynesia. Visits to the museum can be arranged through the mission centre in the same monastery of San Giacomo.

The archaeological tour in the Complesso monumentale San Paolo leads from the area above the excavations of the medieval church to the crypt of San Savino. This gives the medieval church history of Monselice its own spatial progression.
