Discover Pozzonovo: Water Landscapes, Culture and a Cycling Tour
Pozzonovo between water landscapes, culture and a cycling tour
Pozzonovo combines water management, rural landscapes and sacred art with a cycling tour. The highlights range from Parco Faunistico Valcorba and churches and historic buildings to a flat cycling tour heading south.
A nature experience with a clearly defined season
Parco Faunistico Valcorba offers guided tours lasting approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. For the 2026 season, the park is open daily from April 1 to September, from 10:00 to 18:00; reservations are not required. The guided tour can be planned as a separate item on your itinerary, taking approximately two hours. During the 2026 season, the park visit forms a clearly defined day-trip component with its daily opening hours.
The Biblioteca Comunale di Pozzonovo organizes numerous reading-promotion activities for all age groups. The town's cultural life is therefore reflected not only in older buildings, but also in activities aimed at different generations.
Churches, art and traces of local history
The protected oil painting “Madonna col Bambino, Sant’Antonio e San Gaetano da Thiene” from the 17th or 18th century is located on the high altar of the Oratorio di San Gaetano at Villa Centanini. On Pozzonovo's village square stands the monumental Pozzo, created in 1866 by Marco Pezzolo from trachyte and Istrian stone.
The Chiesa della Natività di Maria Vergine preserves a wooden crucifix from the 16th century and has an organ dating from 1804. The church therefore brings together a crucifix from the 16th century and an organ from 1804. Another historic monument is the large farmhouse known as “La Grimana”, dating from the 17th century. It bears witness to the former large latifundia associated with the drainage of the valleys in Pozzonovo.
Water management and a flat cycling route
The Idrovora di Ca’ Giovanelli was built in 1897. In the municipality of Pozzonovo, it mechanically drains a 2,857-hectare sub-basin and discharges the water into the Gorzone River. From the pumping station, the view extends across an untouched agricultural landscape to the first foothills of the Euganean Hills. Water management, agriculture and landscape are directly visible together at this location.
For cyclists, a cycling tour from Pozzonovo heads south to the districts of Capolcastro and Stroppare. The route is approximately 45 kilometers long and runs entirely flat along paved country roads with little traffic. At approximately 45 kilometers, the cycling tour is designed as a separate cycling excursion; planned breaks can be spread across the entire route. In addition to its cultural destinations, Pozzonovo therefore offers a tangible connection to an extended tour through the rural surroundings.
