Discover Rubano: Culture, History and Nature

Rubano combines an expansive natural area with vivid evidence of rural culture and historic sites. At its heart is the Parco Etnografico di Rubano: it extends over more than 7 hectares and includes a lake, a small forest and large green spaces. This gives Rubano a variety of points of interest for a trip to Italy in which you would like to combine nature, history and regional everyday culture.

The Parco Etnografico di Rubano

The Parco Etnografico di Rubano includes an open-air ethnographic museum with a farmhouse, a Venetian Casone, a Barco and a bread oven. These buildings represent typical rural architecture from the early 20th century. The Casone is a faithful replica of Venetian Casoni from the 20th century. It was built in 1999 and is not an original historic structure, but rather a historic reconstruction.

The Casone houses a museum of rural culture from the early 20th century. Since 2021, the farmhouse Casone has also featured an interactive museum tour. The multimedia museum presents the origins and development of the Parco Etnografico di Rubano. There are three internal routes for exploring the grounds, which can also be followed at the same time. This allows you to experience the park according to your personal interests, with a focus on the landscape, the paths or cultural and historical topics.

Historic Sites in the Townscape

You will also encounter various historic points of reference outside the park in Rubano. The Oratorio Frascà was probably built by the Frascati in the 17th century; it was first explicitly mentioned in 1685. Only the façade of the Oratorio remains. It is located in a private setting and can only be viewed from the outside.

The Auditorium dell’Assunta was opened in 2001 following the careful restoration of Rubano’s former church dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta on Via Palù. It is located in Rubano’s historic first town centre. As a venue, it is intended for concerts, theatre performances, meetings, conferences, ceremonies, assemblies, and art and photography exhibitions.

In addition, the municipal project “Rubano. I luoghi della storia” installs information panels at historic sights to bring the historic heritage of the local area back into greater public awareness.
