Miane: Churches, Hilly Landscape and Trails
Churches, Art and History
Miane can be discovered through specific sites and routes: the Santuario Madonna del Carmine, the Chiesa Arcipretale di Miane and several historic churches each add a distinct note to the town’s cultural character, while routes lead into the hilly landscape. This allows you to combine religious art with an easy hill route, a day tour or a mountain bike route, and plan your day around the specific route details.
The present-day Santuario Madonna del Carmine was built in 1819, extended in 1828 and completed with the current choir in 1896. The sanctuary also houses an old image of the Madonna dei Pastori.
The Chiesa Arcipretale di Miane was built between 1874 and 1878. The campanile next to the church was built in 1400 as a watchtower and was later converted into a bell tower. The organ in the Chiesa Arcipretale di Miane is a work by Gaetano Callido. The church contains, among other works, a painting of the Natività , which according to tradition was executed by Dall’Oglio, as well as a painting of the Purificazione della Beata Vergine by Bellucci di Soligo.
The Chiesa campestre di San Pietro was Miane’s first parish church and dates from 1300. The Chiesa-Santuario di Ronch is dedicated to the Madonna Addolorata and was built between 1830 and 1840.
In the immediate vicinity of Miane are Torri di Credazzo, a castle, and S. Maria di Follina, a monastery. The surrounding area also includes the Museo del '900 e della Grande Guerra and the Tipoteca Museo; both are museums.
Routes with Different Day Formats
The Itinerario delle chiesette is an easy, 13.5-kilometre hill route with 300 metres of elevation gain and an average duration of four hours. The long route, Itinerario delle malghe e casere, begins at the Santuario Madonna del Carmine at an altitude of 476 metres, reaches ridges at an average altitude of 1,200 to 1,300 metres and takes a full day, including breaks.
There is also a dedicated route for mountain bikes: the mountain bike route from Miane begins at the parking areas next to the town hall, heads towards Combai and reaches the old road to the Santuario Madonna del Carmine. The different starting points and time estimates help you arrange cultural destinations and physical activity into a suitable daily rhythm.
Vineyards, Forests and Mountains
The Itinerario naturalistico 5 passes through vineyards and mixed forests containing chestnut trees, poplars, European hop-hornbeams, hazelnut trees, elder trees, pedunculate oaks, cherry trees and birches. The route leads to Pecol Molin, where a stream flows year-round and there is a waterfall. The immediate vicinity of Miane also includes Col Maor, Monte Crep, Monte Moncader and Col Pasanova; all four are mountains. The landscape therefore ranges from vineyards and forest paths to higher-altitude points.
For your travel planning, Miane thus offers clearly distinct options side by side: historic churches and art, an easy four-hour route, a full-day hike, a mountain bike route, and nature trails through vineyards and mixed forests.
