History and art in Santa Lucia

The Chiesa di Santa Lucia Vergine e Martire existed by 1152 at the latest; part of the old apse has been preserved in the old bell tower. The church is connected with the first documentary mention of Vascon in 1005. At that time, there was already a small church there. In 1330, the Chiesa di Santa Lucia Vergine e Martire was dedicated to Saint Lucy. In 2000, frescoes and coats of arms were discovered in and on the church. In 1722, G. Battista Tiepolo created the large fresco “La gloria di S. Lucia” there.

Villa and charitable tradition

Villa Loredan Valier Perocco di Meduna is a significant architectural and landscape complex dating from the 17th century. The Colonia Agricola and the associated villa were dedicated to charitable purposes. In 1927, the Province of Treviso took over their administration for the same purpose. This means that architecture, landscape and a social purpose are united at this site within a shared historical context.

Colonia Agricola: farming and everyday life

The Colonia Agricola’s social organic farming has been documented since 1989 on 4.5 hectares of land. The Colonia Agricola uses its agricultural production and related activities to provide the local community with educational and cultural programs. The farm includes goats, ponies, poultry, geese, ducks, Padovana chickens, a rabbit and cats.

At the Colonia Agricola’s garden shop, organic fruit and vegetables are sold, including produce from its own cultivation.
