Vedelago between the town centre and cultural heritage

In the centre of Vedelago, the Church of San Martino Vescovo dominates the townscape. The present church was designed in 1926 by architect Luigi Candiani. The present church is therefore a 20th-century building in the municipality of Vedelago.

Near the town hall stands Villa Zuccareda, dating from the 18th century. The building belongs to the municipality and was recently restored; before that, it was owned by the noble Zuccareda family from Treviso. On the eastern side of Via Montegrappa, not far from Via Postumia, stands the Oratory of San Mamante, which has been documented since the 13th century.

Villa Emo and Venetian architecture

In the municipality of Vedelago, near Fanzolo, lies Villa Emo, a Venetian villa created by Andrea Palladio (1508–1580). Since 1996, it has belonged, together with other Palladian villas in the Veneto, to the UNESCO World Heritage List. Villa Emo thus connects its specific location in the municipality of Vedelago with the group of Palladian villas in the Veneto.

Villa Emo consists of a three-storey central building with two colonnaded barchesse, complemented by two dovecote towers. In the immediate vicinity of Vedelago is Villa Querini, a palace. In the wider regional area around Vedelago are the Museo del '900 e della Grande Guerra and Chiave di volta snc, two museums, as well as the Palazzo dei Trecento, a palace.

The Sile Springs and surrounding landscapes

For those interested in nature and landscapes, the GiraSile route runs through the natural landscape of the Sile Springs between Casacorba di Vedelago (TV) and Torreselle di Piombino Dese (PD). The Porta dell'Acqua and the Botanical Garden cover 16,000 square metres; 13,000 square metres are occupied by the Sile Botanical Garden. The Porta dell'Acqua at the Botanical Garden is the starting point of the GiraSile. Casacorba di Vedelago is in the Province of Treviso, while Torreselle di Piombino Dese is in the Province of Padua; the route therefore crosses a provincial boundary.

Colesel Val dell'Acqua is a mountain in the area around Vedelago. Parco Manin is a park in the area around Vedelago. In the wider regional area around Vedelago are Monte Pallone and Monte Moncader, two mountains.

Vedelago for your travel planning

Vedelago can be explored from two different perspectives: through churches, villas and palaces, or through spring landscapes, gardens and park areas. For travel planning, cultural sites and the spring landscape can be treated as clearly separate focal points. The town centre is represented by San Martino Vescovo and Villa Zuccareda, while GiraSile, Porta dell'Acqua and the Botanical Garden define the natural landscape. Villa Emo adds Palladian architecture and UNESCO World Heritage to the picture.
