Parco dei Laghetti: area, protection status and access

Parco dei Laghetti includes an area of approximately 51 hectares comprising former quarries in Martellago. It is part of the Natura 2000 network and is designated as an SIC, SPA and, since 2018, as an SAC. Parco dei Laghetti is an area of particular landscape and natural value. The Dese River is the most important watercourse crossing the Martellago area.

Parco dei Laghetti can be accessed via Via Fornace in Martellago and Via Cà Bembo in Maerne. Traffic regulations are crucial for planning routes: access, transit and parking of motor vehicles are prohibited on roads and paths, meadows, woodland, agricultural land and along the paths. Movement within the park should therefore be planned without a motor vehicle, while the two roads serve as reference points for access. When visiting the park, the distinction between access and motorised use is decisive.

Church, villa and historic residence

Chiesa di Santo Stefano Protomartire

The Chiesa di Santo Stefano Protomartire is dated to the period from 1770 to 1820. It was consecrated by Bishop Francesco Giustiniani on 21 September 1777. In 1779, the painters Giovanni Battista Canal and Domenico Fossati were commissioned to create a large fresco depicting the martyrdom of Saint Stephen for the church.

Villa Priuli Grimani Morosini and Barchessa Fapanni Combi

Villa Priuli Grimani Morosini (Ca' della Nave) stands on Via Castellana in the centre of Martellago. Its main building dates from 1547 and has a square floor plan, three storeys and a hipped roof. Another historic residence in the Veneto region is Barchessa Fapanni Combi. It was built in 1600 and restored in the 19th century according to a design by the architect Michele Fapanni. A visit to the Barchessa can be arranged by appointment in advance, subject to availability.

Golf course and regional horticultural product

The golf course at Golf Club Ca' della Nave has artificial lakes that affect 12 of the 18 holes. Radicchio rosso di Treviso is a typical horticultural product of the area around Martellago. Together, these two topics complement the focus on landscapes and architecture with sport and agriculture.
