Spinea on the Via Miranese: historic traces in the town

Spinea lies on the Via Miranese, a historic road connecting Mestre and the Padua area that passes through Mirano. In the town, history and architecture can be encountered at specific sites. The bell tower of the Chiesa dei Santi Vito e Modesto was built from an old watchtower. It is one of the last surviving remnants of the Castle of Orgnano, which was demolished in the 16th century. The tower thus preserves a trace of the former fortification, while the church itself remains a historic site. Due to the absence of architectural barriers, the Chiesa dei Santi Vito e Modesto is accessible to everyone.

Villa Simion and the protected natural area

The park of Villa Simion offers a different focus. It covers approximately 6,000 square metres and includes more than 200 native and non-native plants. Benches and a pavilion are among its facilities; in addition, the entire path that crosses the park is illuminated. AperiBiblio takes place in Parco di Villa Simion, a recurring summer series of concerts and aperitifs. Those who include the recurring concert and aperitif series in their travel plans should schedule their stay for the summer; in 2026, this series held its eighth edition. Parco Nuove Gemme has a different focus, encompassing a protected natural area.

Exhibitions at the Oratorio di Villa Simion

The exhibition space in the Oratorio di Villa Simion has hosted exhibitions for several years. They are organised by the Department of Culture and the library of Spinea; they are primarily aimed at local associations and artists. Villa Simion is therefore associated not only with parkland, but also with a cultural use.

Fortifications and Villa Morosini-Duca di Bardi-Palli

Forte Sirtori adds the history of fortification to the selection. The fort was built in 1911 and is part of the Campo trincerato di Mestre. Villa Morosini-Duca di Bardi-Palli offers a different historical perspective: it hosted Emperor Franz Joseph.
