Colà is situated on moraine hills. Characteristic pebble walls shape the landscape of the moraine hills and naturally separate rural properties and large villas from one another. The surroundings are green and characterised by vineyards. This landscape provides you with a tangible introduction to Colà before you turn your attention to the individual buildings.

Wellness and Nature at Villa dei Cedri

The Parco Termale del Garda di Villa dei Cedri is at the heart of the wellness experience. The nature spa covers 13 hectares and is set among rare plants and centuries-old trees. Villa dei Cedri is an elegant 18th-century residence. The historic residence, rare plants and centuries-old trees provide the nature spa with a clear architectural and landscape setting. The Centro Benessere at Villa dei Cedri includes Finnish saunas and bio-saunas, a Turkish bath, a salt room and a thermal pool. Bookable treatments and massages are also available.

No reservation is required to access the outdoor thermal lake at the Parco Termale del Garda di Villa dei Cedri. The park can be reached by ATV bus 163 from Verona Porta Nuova railway station and by bus 164 from Lazise. For travel by public transport, Verona Porta Nuova and Lazise are the two starting points for the bus connections.

Churches and Festival Tradition

The Church of San Giorgio Martire was built between 1757 and 1762 based on an earlier Santa Maria chapel and contains five altars. The Church of Madonna della Neve stands on the site of Colà’s first chapel. For visitors interested in cultural history, the two churches offer different points of connection: one reflects the creation of a later church building, while the other recalls the early place of worship.

At the former parish church of Madonna della Neve, Colà hosts the Antica sagra della Madonna della Neve over four days, including 5 August. 5 August is therefore expressly part of the four-day event period.

Villas, Courtyards and Older Traces

Villa Moscardo dates from the 15th century. An inscription on the façade commemorates Emperor Charles V’s visit on 21 April 1530. Corte Boaria da Sacco dates from the 16th century. Its oldest section comprises a residential building and a stable with a hayloft.

Towards the end of the 19th century, Countess Eleonora da Sacco completed Corte Boaria da Sacco with an enclosing wall and arcades. Villa Da Sacco stands on elevated ground near the parish church, on the site of high medieval fortifications. The different architectural forms and dates are useful if you would like to follow several historical traces during a visit to the area. In Colà, the dates range from Villa Moscardo in the 15th century to the additions to Corte Boaria da Sacco towards the end of the 19th century.
