History between the Adige and Arcole

History can be traced on several levels in Ronco all'Adige. Finds from the surrounding area show that Ronco all'Adige was already inhabited in Roman times. In earlier centuries, the town was also an important river port through which goods from Trentino and the Adriatic coast were transported. Another historical account is connected with the bridge at Arcole: according to local tradition, Napoleon directed the battle from the bell tower of Ronco all'Adige. The two historical references belong to different periods: Roman settlement was followed by the Napoleonic tradition surrounding Arcole. The historical references thus remain connected to Ronco all'Adige and Arcole.

Hydraulic structure and riverside paths

A notable historical landmark is the Antico Manufatto Idraulico del Gangaion, a hydraulic structure dating from 1600. The Gangaion experience combines a guided tour of this structure with a walk through the surrounding landscape. Two paths are also central to walks by the water: the Dino-Coltro Trail runs along the Adige embankment, as does the path “Sulle Tracce di Dino Coltro alla scoperta della Pianura Veronese”.

Festivals with a regional character

The September festival Natività di Maria in Ronco all'Adige features a funfair, musical performances and food stalls. The Carnevale in Albaro includes a parade with masks and allegorical floats. The Sagra di Sant’Anna commemorates the intercession of the saint during the cholera epidemic of 1886. At an event in Ronco all'Adige, a frog-jumping race is also scheduled for Tuesday evening. Agriculture and cuisine

Agriculture in Ronco all'Adige specializes in the production of pears, apples, peaches, asparagus, melons and celeriac. This agricultural character is also reflected in the Festa della mela e della pera in Tombazosana: the festival includes an exhibition of agricultural products and local food stalls. Reserve and observation

Former clay pits are also part of the landscape. A reserve covering approximately 10 hectares includes such pits, which naturally reverted to their original state after being abandoned. The reserve contains two observation towers and an educational room with service facilities. Nature enthusiasts can observe in the reserve both the former use of the clay pits and their subsequent natural regeneration, as well as the two observation towers and the educational room. The observation towers and the educational room with service facilities are separate components of the reserve.
